Meridian 153 is a boutique Building Design firm specialising in custom designed residential projects infused with sustainable design elements.
The current practice has evolved from the initial studio of King Design Service, formed by principal designer Robert King in February 2000.
Our name describes our main geographical area of operation, being Longitude 153 East, which passes through Australia from the Fraser Coast region of Queensland in the north, to the Coffs Harbour region of New South Wales in the south. We will, of course, create inspired building designs for anywhere, including in our new region of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.......let us design your dream home!
Our Practice currently operates as a Sole Trader entity under the management of principal designer Robert King, but has the capability to expand with contract staff to cope with any size project.

Our History
After studying Architecture at QUT in the mid-eighties, Robert moved to the Gold Coast to work for a prominent Architectural Firm in Coolangatta, gaining invaluable experience as an Architectural Draftsman, until branching out on his own as a Building Designer at the beginning of the new millennium.
King Design Service found early success and gained notoriety by consistently winning regional, state and national building design awards, tallying over 40 by 2010. Robert is now well regarded in the industry, with projects regularly being featured in various national lifestyle and trade magazines.
Robert has formed a network of experienced contract staff, consultants and builders, meaning he is able to handle projects ranging from simple extensions up to multi-million dollar resorts. He is personally involved in all aspects of client liaison, from initial briefing, to feasibility studies, conceptual design, design development, Council Applications, construction documentation, coordination of consultants, Tenders and Contract Administration.
This personalised ‘hands-on’ approach, coupled with a strong grounding and belief in environmentally sensitive design means that Robert can deliver projects that can meet a clients’ expectations and budget, whilst also future-proofing the building to stand the test of time.
